The Third Annual Fairfield County Plant Swap is sponsored by Monica Hemingway of The Gardeners’ List and Hemingway Horticulture, and hosted by the New Canaan Nature Center.

The Fairfield County Plant Swap was started in 2009 as a way for gardeners to add to their plant collections (for free) while at the same time giving some of their favorite plants to other local gardeners.  After several failed attempts to find a local park or even a parking lot to set up a few tables for the plant swap, the New Canaan Nature Center came to the rescue.  Not only did the New Canaan Nature Center generously offer to host the Fairfield County Plant Swap on their beautiful 40-acre site, they also offered to open their award-winning greenhouse for tours on the day of the Plant Swap.

In 2009, the First Annual Fairfield County Plant Swap was held in late May and was a huge success. It was followed by a smaller fall swap that brought out some unusual and interesting plants that were enjoyed by fellow gardeners. The 2010 Plant Swap was an even bigger event, and we’re expecting 2011 to be the best year yet.
